These two miniatures were composed in the fall of 2022 under the instruction of Dr. David Janssen. “Fall” was written in a minimalistic style, constantly increasing in the amount of rhythms and pitches. The idea of leaves falling and the burst of red, orange, and yellow colors are felt and seen throughout the unfolding textures. “Winter” is impressionistic and communicates the falling idea of snow. The arpeggios are built on C for the majority of the piece. Both works are conclusive but they also create an ongoing effect. The melody continues on in the listener’s mind, even though the music has finished.
